Transforming cities through care.

Metropolis Care Campaign

Imagine a world where care takes centre stage. A world where cities prioritise quality of life.

Care is about actions that support people's physical and emotional well-being.

It’s essential for everyone. We all require care at different stages of our lives— depending on our age, health and disability.

Care is the base of a fair society. But care work is often invisible, undervalued and unpaid.

It includes all activities that enable daily life—cleaning, cooking, looking after family members, raising children, and taking care of oneself.

Women dedicate at least 3 times more unpaid work than men.

This imbalance not only perpetuates inequality and time poverty, but hampers women's education, economic independence, opportunities and well-being. It also has great consequences on our society, which fails to harness the talent and potential of women.

Imagine.

A city that places people at its heart, a city that embraces a care-centric approach to urban planning and management. Such a city envisions a new social system that recognises and supports care work, guaranteeing every individual's right to receive care and provide care in good conditions.

Investing in care can break the cycle of care, poverty, inequality, and exclusion. Care systems can generate multiple social and economic returns.

It’s time to care.
